Parents, children and school

You are looking for care for your child

Print

There are many reasons for children to go to after-school care, for example. Both parents might be working. Parents do not want their children to be on their own too much. There are care services for younger and older children. Childcare settings bring children together with other children.

Here you will find information on the following:

  • What childcare can I get?
  • How do I register for a childcare place?
  • How do I get financial support?

What childcare can I get?

Schools in Frankfurt also provide afternoon care. Some schools also have full-day programmes – in other words, classes in the afternoon as well. Would you like to register your child at a school? Then find out more from the City of Frankfurt am Main about what kind of childcare schools can offer. You will find an overview here.

How do I register for a childcare place?

You can search for childcare services online at Kindernet-Frankfurt. This portal arranges 53,000 places for care. Childcare is provided by:

  • Childminders
  • Daycare centres
  • After-school care settings
  • Schools
  • School-based care.

These places have been inspected by the City of Frankfurt. The Hesse Ministry for Social Affairs and Integration has approved the places. You can use the portal to find a childcare place that meets your needs. Are you looking for a place close to where you live? Or are you looking for an afternoon place only? You can specify this under "Search". If you have any questions, ring up or send an email. You can find the contact you need on the website.

How do I get financial support?

You can get money from the education and participation benefits (BuT), for example a subsidy for your child's lunch in a daycare setting. If your child attends an after-school care setting, you can apply for the cost of lunch from the Wirtschaftliche Jugendhilfe section of the responsible social welfare office (Sozialrathaus).
